John V. Mesh
John was born August 8, 1976, to Michael Joseph and Barbara Mesh. John was one of eight children in the Mesh Family. John attended Grade School at Holy Cross in Old Northeast and attended St. Mary's High School in Independence, MO.
In 1999 John married the love of his life Felicia, and they had four daughters, Adriana, Alyssa, Alexandria and Alicia.
John was everything to his family and they were most important to him. He was extremely proud of his daughters and very active in all of their sports functions and events. John was an avid hunter and was dedicated to passing on his knowledge, experience and traditions to his daughters.
In 2002, John's dream came to fruition by becoming a member of the Kansas City, MO Fire Department when he was hired and served as a Firefighter/EMT for the next 13 years. John was dedicated and passionate about his career, and loved serving the community where he was assigned as a member of Pumper 10 (Station 10) located at 1505 E. 9th Street in the Old Northeast part of town.
On the evening of October 12, 2015, John and his fellow crew members were battling a 2 Alarm Blaze at an apartment building over commercial shops located at 2608 Independence Ave in Old Northeast. Tragically John V. Mesh and fellow firefighter FAO Larry Leggio died in the line of duty as a result of their fatal injuries sustained when an exterior wall collapsed on them.
